Discussion: The original X.1 (horncore) for this unit was switched to unit 2270 (X.15).

This unit is soil that is between N-S baulk and the fallen roof. It comprises a wall-like feature made of a yellow bricky clay that runs E-W and seems to curve under the fallen roof. Eastern limit of the unit is a blob of a solid clay brick which might have been part of the roof. Anyhow, the soil shows traces of burning with small ashy concentration along the yellow bench on the southern unit and next to the baulk- the feeling is that this soil was in place before the collapsing of the structure.

Unit description: A small-medium sized unit dominated by the remains of 03 sized animals. A low proportion of the material had been burnt (c. 2%) and digested bone is very infrequent. in addition to the caprines, pig and cattle were present in low proportions. Flotation samples 3 and 4 were recorded for diagnostics only. Sample 3 was similar to the material from the dry sieve but seemed to consist mainly of skull fragments; sample 4 contained a much higher proportion of burnt bone (c. 30%) and there was a moderate quantity of fish bone. A calcined 1st phalanx of a possible fox was also present in sample 3. Last number = 80
