Description: U23401 is the make up of Oven-base U23400, of Oven F2195. This is found in the W-SW of Building 52, space 576. 

Discussion: U23401 is the partially surviving packing of Oven-base U23400. It was made of pise like material with several flecks of inclusions, such as aggregates and charcoal. 

Consistency: Friable 

Colour: Brown, dark brown, and black 

Texture: Sand 

Bedding: Unoriented 

Inclusions: Flecks and small pieces of charcoal (20%) 

Post-depositional Features: Oven base U23400 was built above. Later on U23401 was truncated by Wall F.2183. 

Basal Boundary: Constructional, sharp, prominent, smooth and flat.
