Description: U23404 is the earliest surviving base of Oven F2195. It only survived in patches; it was evidently heavily burnt, and it was truncated by Wall F.2183. Oven F2195 is found in the W-SW corner of Building 52.
Discussion: U23404, the earliest base of Oven F2195, only survived in patches, which irregularly disappeared into the packing of this base, (U23405). U23404 was constructed of mud plaster which had turned into dark brown and black, having been in direct contact with fire. Impressions of plant remains (straws? or other?) were visible on the top of this base.
