Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Plaster
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: wall/blocking; Material: plaster; Deposition: layered (wall plaster); Basal Spit: painted
Description: This unit contains at least 3 plaster events where one is red painted. Because of the relation with B.96 this had to be excavated in the negative together with brick and mortar of F.1857.
Discussion: This unit consits of 3 events. An outer thi, cker white plaster which sits above a red painted thinner white plaster. On the north side the plaster goes behind the wall F.1857. The south side of the crawl hole does not have red paint.
The plaster belonging to the niche seems also to have ben crammed up in cracks between side-room fill in order to even out surface for niche plastering. It also looks like they used plaster to repair one brick and mortar in the crawl hole roof. Niche plaster and crawl hole plaster looks the same.
