Unit 30789
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: TPC
Interpretive Categories: collapsed construction or rubble
Data Category Information: In Situ: non in-situ; Location: external; Material: brick
Discussion: Initially we suspected that this unit contained the remains of an oven. Hovewer, upon excavation it became clear that while the layer did contain some rubble, it also contained two fragments of painted wall plaster, which we suspect was dislodged from the wall during some later construction. The wall plaster was taken by the construction team. There were also small areas of gray, possibly ashy deposits, that contained a proportionately larger amount of charcoal than the rest of the unit. After excavation was complete, we concluded that the layer consisted of a collapsed construction or rubble.
