Unit 31179
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: Trench 5
Interpretive Categories: brick wall,construction
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: wall/blocking; Material: brick; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: The unit’s dimensions have been drawn arbitrary to get a better understanding of the connection between F3306 and F2429. To the north it was limited by unit 31124. To the west by an artificial cut on the same vertical level as the western boarder of F3339. The eastern limit was at the same vertical line (SN) as F2425. The southern border was drawn at the connection between F3339 (buttress) and at the very east by the connection to F3305/2425. The wall of unit 31179 was built in very homogenous horizontal layer. The area in the middle (WE) was disturbed by a later pit. The amount of finds was relatively low and no x finds have been recorded. Only one charcoal sample and flotation samples were taken. Normal finds were animal (few bones) and some shards (pottery).
