Unit 31223
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: Trench 5
Interpretive Categories: horizontal plaster on wall
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: The unit 31223 is a horizontal plaster unit, that occured on top of wall F.3312. Although similar in consistency, it is clearly different in colour from the partly underlying, partly neighbouring plaster U.16999 as it is grey, while the latter one is beige.
It was sometimes hard to distinguish it from the residue of the already removed mudbrick on top. The mudbrick below on the other hand is reddish and therefore easy to distinguish. Over the whole excavated plain, there were several big patches of the plaster. The westernmost one even seemed to extend into wall F.2424 (F.3380). A small section showed no further connection between the walls. The overlap might just be due to the wavy nature of the walls outlines.
As the unit 31223 was not excavated, there were no bottom levels taken, the depth is estimated.
