Unit 31581
Category: Layer dug in 2016
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: infill of post retrieval
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: pit; Deposition: heterogeneous
Discussion: After taking out the U. 21670 activity surface in north central part of the building, F.7724 (pit) has been realized and the U.31581 is given as a unit number for the infill and U.31580 for the pit cut. The fill was mostly sandy silt however; intensity of the orange and greyish bricks and chunk of plasters was obvious. For this unit, it is important to note that on top of the north eastern corner of the fill pebbles and some obsidian flakes were found as mixed together with the soil. After realizing the cluster of artefacts (U.31585) excavations on this part is made with leaf trowel. It might be said that the soil in this corner was more clayish then the rest of the unit however aggregations and the color of the soil were same and there was no separate cut for the cluster. Apart from the cluster it can be said that finds from the soil was not much. As an important point, it seems that the infill is similar with U.31543 which is an infill of F.7870 (Pit). Those two infills show similarity with F.7726. İnfilling of these pits might be the same event and related with the destruction of F.7726 (constructual element).
