Unit 32000
Category: Cut dug in 2016
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: shallow cut in the bigger truncation: F.7873
Data Category Information: Description: pit
Discussion: A circular cut U.32000 (40-44cm diameter) was recorded in north-eastern part of the huge pit F.7873. The latter feature constituted an extensive truncation located in W-part of the main room (Sp. 531) of B.132.
The outline of the presented cut U.32000 had been exposed after exploration of the overlying infill U.31555. The mentioned deposit was combined firstly with cut U.31554 and consequently with pit F.7873. However, it appeared that ca.10-15cm below the highest elevation of the feature (F.7873) there were three additional depressions evidenced. One of them is the presented here cut 32000. In that condition, the unit represents complex nature of digging activities that occurred at the last phase of the building. The circumstances related with the execution of such enormous demolition of floor and two platforms (F.7880, F.7722) might have been involved with regaining and taking out installations or posts that were placed originally in the currently uncovered three cuts. The cut 32000 as it was revealed appeared to be quite shallow (14cm) and regular bowl-like shaped hollow. Hence it is difficult to ascertain the function of the element that was placed in the particular locale. However, to the depth of the cut which was marked by its lowest point (1010,55m a.s.l.) we should add also the elevation of the highest point of nearby platform F.7722 (1010,83m .a.s.l.), truncated by mentioned U.31554. In consequence we might get the actual depth ca. 33cm of the cut as it was during the last phase of use, which is indicated by the last layer of plaster within platform.
