Unit 32002
Category: Layer dug in 2016
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: fragments of collapsed dome (32003) in ovenF.7854
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: oven; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: - the layer of broken fragments of dome U.32002 was registered on top of the oven base (U.31570) within the fire installation (F.7854) situated in South-central part of the S-wall F.3679 of B.132. Judging by the location and the whole context it seems that the presented fragments fell down from the described construction, which might have happened during the demolition phase of the room. Taking the latter into consideration one may state that the backed and crushed remains of clay dome came from the same construction as the part (U.32003) that could be still recorded untouched within the wall. Intriguing is there was no any fragments of superstructure (31569) evidenced with the broken remains of dome sealing the base. Also worth noticing is that only in the southern part of the presented rubble it was possible to identify particular fragments of dome as crushed and fallen from upper part of the oven. Northern part of the Unit 32002 seemed to be smashed and apart from the colour and material it formed quite massive deposit. The circumstances probably was resulted of trampling and accumulation of the overlying heavier room-fills 21654 and 21670 that altogether compressed the layer U.32002.
