Unit 32057
Category: Layer dug in 2016
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: infill of shallow depression
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: pit; Deposition: heterogeneous
Discussion: A sandy-silt, mid-grey sediment U.32057 sealed a shallow (2cm) depression (cut-32058) in North-Central part of Sp.531. The depression was situated between two mud-brick structures recorded as possible columns (Eastern – 7726, Western F.7727) adjacent to the N-wall of B.132. There is no clear explanation what the infill 32057 might have been related with, in the past. It is possible that it represents an deliberate accumulation set in order to make even the surface marked by noticeable hole. Accordingly, the infill could not be regarded as associated with actual role of the cut and its deposition have taken place after the depression lost its role in the room. It is also possible that the infill together with the cut they both refer to a kind of deposit whose bottom part had been just recorded. The real extents of those two had been unfortunately truncated as a side cause of the activities involved with abandonment. In consequence the Northern part of the infill as well as its top segment were heavily demolished by the cut 31580 and related with it post-retrieval pit (F.7724) evidenced along the Northern wall of B.132. Hence, the nature of the deposit remains ambiguous. Worth noticing however is that the deposit contained of noticeable inclusions of white mineral salts which may imply decomposition of organic material within the sediment.

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
X Finds Material: nothing recorded
