Unit 32207
Category: Layer dug in 2016
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: burial infill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: 32207 is the infill of burial F3813, that is situated in the southern side of platform 3811 (space 154).
7 cm deep (but this should not be the original depth of the burial's infill: see cut 32206 discussion for explanation), it contains the disarticulated bones of at least 2 individuals: the pelvis of one aged between 6-8; the bones of at least another aged between 10-12 (sex is undetermined in both cases). The infill also contains the skull of one person (22197). The head might belong to one of the two individual described above: a clear explanation will be given once the bones will be analysed by the human remains equipe.
Since most of the infill's bones and the skull are ammassed along the south-western side of the burial, it is possible that the cut of the overlying burial F3808 has intercepted F3813: in order to create a wide and smooth surface where to put the plastered skull & co. (22196) of burial F3808, the content of burial F3813 might have been moved from the center of the deposition to its southern side. This would explain why the body was mostly disarticulated: this would be a consequence of its displacement, from an originally primary deposition to what looks now like a primary loose one. Another possibility is that the bones in the infill belong to one or more burials originally located somwhere else, and displaced here at a certain point of time. In this case the burial would be a secondary deposition.
One soil sample (S3) has been taken from a spot in the center of the burial: this is ment to mesure the Ph level and see if there are any remarcable differences between this sample and those taken in burial F3810 (see units 32201, 32205) that can justify the conservation differences between the bones of 2 burials that are so close to each other.

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
