Unit 32431
Category: Layer dug in 2016
Area: South
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: pit; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: This layer was exposed after remove the primary room infill (U22324), the presence of a few bones define the extension of that layer. The layer was light brownish and with charcoal as more important intrusion, was a bit loose, so quite easy to remove. Was a layer completely clean composed mostly for clay and silt and with a few very small natural stones. The only remarkable element in this infill was the presence of animal bones, deposit to the edges of the pit described in the cluster U32430.
After the lab analysis the phytoliths was present but not abundant, mainly wood leaves morphotypes and a couple of melted silica skeletons of leaf. Low-density, re-deposited wood fuel waste. About the remains of bones founded in the flotation all are largely unidentifiable fragments, a few pieces that probably reconstruct onto the cluster (U32430), most of the fragments are very small and broke up from the infilling of the pit or something along those lines, some may have been swept in with the rest of the fill from other household activities. One diagnostic bone: a fetal or neonatal sheep/goat distal metapodial. <5% of the unidentifiable scrap is burned, that material is unlikely to be part of the cluster bones, none of which were burned.

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
X Finds Material: nothing recorded
