Dimensions: 0.82 m N-S x 0.8 m W-E x 0.52 m deep 

Discussion: Quite substantial cut against E wall of space 154 (F229). Its stratigraphic position shows that it relates to the abandonment of building 5 and its position under a scar in the plaster shows that it is a post retrieval pit. Some of edges and base slightly unclear so it may not be the exact size/shape excavated. There is also a small possibility that it has not been fully excavated. 

Recognition: Cut through wall and horizontal stratigraphy. 

Definition: Edges at wall/horizontal banding. 

Execution: Mattock + trowel. 

Condition: Normal. 

Shape: roughly circular but rather irregular 

Sides: irregular, generally quite steep and rounded, undercutting in some places 

Base Break: gradual 

Base: quite flat
