Unit description: Small unit. includes X1, a small chunk of cattle horn core. includes a chunk of large mammal scapula and some bits of a largish rodent. Otherwise a grab bag of bits through the body, with mostly sheep-size but a fair bit of large mammal and even some equid. Surface condition variable, fairly fragmented but includes largish pieces. Sample 2 >4 mm flotation 100% sorted, recorded completely. Moderate size, mostly tiny pieces with a few up to 4 cm. Mostly good surface condition, although some little ones look rolled and trampled. A little burning. Nearly all sheep-size. Looks like clean fill or building material. An oddity is two human phalanges that appear digested. If so, this certainly suggests that some bodies are exposed. However, it is possible that some other process has caused the erosion observed. There is also a human(?) carpal(?); all three are a lighter color and could be intrusive from a Hellenistic grave. There is also a bit of bird and microfauna, but no fish.
