Unit 3762
Category: layer dug in 1998
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: infill
Data Category Information: Location: between walls; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: Upon later excavation this unit proved to be the same as (3736), excavated by SF. This unit is probably an infill layer between walls and it is characterised by accumulations of finds, especially small amounts of charcoal, medium small - medium sized bones and clay ball fragments.
This therefore implies that wall 286 continues eastwards where its relationship has not yet been defined (SF).
Recognition: Deposit at E end of wall 286. Visible by dense amount of bone/charcoal etc.
Definition: Clear aginst F.259 to N, unit (3736) to E and wall F.52 to S.
Execution: Trowel.
Condition: Dry.
Consistency: firm to strong
Colour:
Texture: silty but occasional sandy grain
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: bone frags, dense charcoal inclusions, 5% shell, stone, clay ball frags. all <2%
Post-depositional Features: large amounts of salt
Basal Boundary: anthropogenic/gradual and faint/smooth and even
