Discussion: Ninth layer of floors/lenses on platform F239. Labelled 18 (plaster) and 19 (dark layer) on plan 98-639.
Plaster and dark, possibly trample layer. The dark layer was impossible to separate from the plaster layer so were given one unit number. Dark layer extends from SE then is discontinuous.
Recognition: Floor of platform. Colour/texture changes.
Definition: Defined by limit of excavation.
Execution: Leaf trowel and patience.
Condition: Dry.
Consistency: compact but friable
Colour: 10 YR 8/2 very pale brown
Texture: slightly ashy clay
Bedding: compound layered
Inclusions: none
Post-depositional Features: animal hole SE corner
Basal Boundary: smooth/continous (plaster)/dark layer is discontinous
