Finds Room Information:

All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.

Unit description: This is the collapsed post-Mellaart wall. The stratigraphic relationships to the rest of the site are unclear. Two flotation samples both called sample 2 were given the flot frag treatment. Flot 2342, was an even brown, very fill-like sample, with about %5 burnt and very little to no digestion. Flot sample 2328 was tiny, only 31 flot frags, but about half burnt. Microfauna was pulled from both. It contains some human and badger bones and a fair amount of antler as well as the usual sheep and cattle size bone. Overall the deposit is very mixed with various degrees of weathering and burning. The fragment size is consistently between 2 and 5 cm and most of these breaks are predepositional. It is possibly midden material crushed or sieved for use in the construction of the mortar, or may have been scraped from the surrounding surfaces when the wall collapse was cleaned. As the unit has no stratigraphic context I did not record the teeth. Last number = 58
