Dimensions: 1.40m e-w x 0.40m wide max + 0.20m min x up to 10mm thick 

Discussion: A thin skim/layer between construction of wall 413 over wall 415 therefore probably a levelling/make-up deposit. Deposit looks derived from midden material being rich in ash + charcoal but well mixed. Lies below full extent of bricks + mortar. 

Recognition: grey + relatively rich in inclusions compared to upper + lower brick + mortar 

Definition: clearly distinct by colour + inclusions 

Execution: trowel from edges in plan 

Condition: damp but eroded + disturbed by root + animal activity 

Consistency: moderately compact 

Colour: mid brown grey 

Texture: sandy silt (10:90) 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: 2% small frags charcoal; 1% small stone; 1% small frag bone 

Post-depositional Features: heavily eroded + distuirbed by animal + root activity 

Basal Boundary: clear, constructional
