Dimensions: 2m 30 by 30cm by 4/10/15cm thick 

Discussion: Very thick dense mortar in this wall - makes up as much of the wall as the brick although varies in thickness, sometimes thicker than the brick. It seems that rather than just serving as filling between the bricks the mortar is a more integral part of the wall. 

Recognition: light grey mortar in between brick, cracked with small inclusions 

Definition: in layers between brick 

Execution: trowel, mattock 

Condition: dry 

Consistency: very compact but friable where dry 

Colour: light grey, swirly patterns 

Texture: silty with a bit of clay, very dense 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: a few bits shell less 2%, bone less 2%, plaster, flecks charcoal 

Post-depositional Features: salty interfaces,ant nests 

Basal Boundary: with brick, prominent, distinct, constructional, smooth.
