Dimensions: 0.15m (E-W), 0.14m (N-S), 0.03m deep
Discussion: 4951 was a small chunk of material which seems to have been left as an isolated/truncated deposit beneath the backfill of building 23. It was removed as a compound layer since it made no interpretative sense, but it probably relates to the use of one of the ovens that surrounded it.
Consistency: firm
Colour: pale brownish-grey underlain by a darker grey ashy layer
Texture: mainly silt
Bedding: compound layered (two distinct layers)
Inclusions: flecks of charcoal, plaster, burnt clay, tiny pebbles and phytoliths (<2%) in the main deposit, 20%charcoal, 5% burnt clay, 2% plaster, <2% phytoliths in the ashy layer
Post-depositional Features: cracking and salt encrustation
Basal Boundary: sharp and distinct, sloping steeply from west to east
