Discussion: Rather unusual thick yellowish sticky plaster on E face of wall 554; in places on the N part of the wall this was overlain by a thinner application of white plaster

Colour: pale yellowish brown (with more orange patches - c5% up to 10mm)
Texture: (silty) clay loam
Bedding: massive - in some places whiter plaster overlays orange plaster
Inclusions: very occasional (<1%) charcoal flecks, very occasional small rounded white pebbles and bone fragments
Post-depositional Features: absent on some parts of the wall (see section 661)
Basal Boundary: sharp, wavy (filling irregularities in wall face).
