Description: This disturbance - pit fill was not recognized in plan, only in (?). Originally was thought to be part of the roomfill to the west of mudbrick wall. However as excavationcommenced, it became clear that this was the fill of a cut that cut through and really partially destroyed a double mudbrick wall. The fill contains elements of mudbrick. 

 

Recognition: Recognized as a loose and soft disturbed matrix 

Definition: Different to the harder and more compactedr roomfill to the west 

Execution: shovel, hoe 

Condition: hot but windy and sunny 

Consistency: Very soft and friable 

Colour: orangish grey 

Texture: sandy silt 50% sand, 40% silt, 10% clay 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: frequent animal bone, clay ball and obsidian 

Post-depositional Features: Rodent run right through this fill 

Basal Boundary: Clear - comes onto much more compact clay or mudbrick.
