Discussion: Took off upper floor down to lower level(s). In the SW corner of unit there was dramatic layering visible - layers of grey, brown, orange, white - at least 4 visible. Along west wall these layers are particularly defined. As moved down to the NE,these layers fade and are not clear. Directly against the west wall there was a gray layer which contained phytoliths (S6) - The floor popped off easily to this layer . The goal of remainng this layer was to discover the extant of the dark area near pit#2 - however the dark area near this pit didn't continue. 

Recognition: seen in pit cut/below prev. recog. floors 

Definition: N&E: platform edge, S:grid line, W:interior wall 

Execution: trowel by scraping 

Condition: dry 

Consistency: moderately hard 

Colour: 10 YR 6/4 

Texture: clay/silt 60/40% 

Bedding: compound layered (3-4 plaster & packing layers) 

Inclusions: phytoliths (in W only) 5% small-med 

Post-depositional Features: pits cut into these layers 

Basal Boundary: lower floor layer, smooth but uneven in color.
