Unit 6214
Category: layer dug in 1999
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: fire installation, small pit fill
Discussion: Cross sectioned & removed north area of till. Seemed in the west to have layers of floors (room floors), However in the east these are broken and there is clean fill material with no inclusions. There is one large stone (item) in the east of the pit up against the cut wall. Photo'ed & drawn then removed south half of cross sectioned pit On west side there were floor layers easily visible. However on east segment there was a clear clay fill with pieces of plaster. This fill was so clean it seems unlikely that this was a fire installation. However since there were no floor surfaces or layers on east side this area may continue to go deeper.

Unit description: This unit is fill from a small pit in floor of feature 621 in Bach house 3. There is only bone from flot sample (number 2); all of 4mm is done. There are only four frags: 2 are 07 size long bone shaft fragments, others are unidentifiable. Bone is rough on surface, quite weathered, and edges damaged, suggesting a high degree of reworking. Maybe this material was rolled/washed into the pit. Contrasts 6161. last record = F3.Figurine Records: No GroundStone Records: No Heavy Residue Records: No Microfaunal Records: No
