Taken down the remains of F.628. The unit is a mixture of orange clay, white plaster and some packing underneath - all as one unit. One large section has been has been conservated in situ and taken out afterwards as an architectural sample. It seems to have been a construction made up against the east face of the west wall. 

 

Recognition: Because of the outer layer of plaster 

Definition: differentiation in construction technique 

Execution: trowel, leaf trowel 

Condition: dry 

Consistency: firm, required some pressure 

Colour: 10YR 5/3 brown 

Texture: silty clay loam 

Bedding: layered, wavy, discontinuous 

Inclusions: artefactual, organic remains (wood) 

Post-depositional Features: animal hole 

Basal Boundary: gradual, smooth, anthropic boundary
