Dimensions: L extended 1.80 not entire, W 1.30, depth 0.05m to surface 

 

Discussion: There was a subtle change in the soil from lumpy clayish mudbrick collapse room fill to a softer undulating possibly slight beaten surface. This is just a trampled surface that would appear to define two different phases within space 193. It comes on to the top of plaster lined walls that mark the effective top of a thicker phase of the space 

 

Recognition: less lumpy and mudbricky more gritty than horizon above 6558 

Definition: defined by N S+ with mudbrick walls of space 193. Elevn definition more arbitury 

Execution: trowel. Loaf, hand shovel 

Condition: hot very windy, dusty and dry 

Consistency: quite heterogeneous - varies from very hard and compact to very soft 

Colour: light greyish brown 2.5Y 5/3 light olive brown has flecks of cream plaster and orangish daub in it 

Texture: silty clay = 50% silt, 30% clay, 20% sand 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: chunks of plaster and small lumps of mudbrick occ small fleck of charcoal (c. 0.05%) some building fill - daub etc. Animal bone (quite large and dense) ca. 2-3% occ sherd (small) of pottery generally decorated ca. 1% no pebbles 

Post-depositional Features: a lot of animal burrowing and root activity 

Basal Boundary: through floor and on to another room deposit
