Unit 6653
Category: layer dug in 2000
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: burial fill
Dimensions: 1.01 NS x 1.43 EW m
Discussion: Top layer of human bones were uncovered. They represent the disturbed remains of several individuals. Three cranias are exposed; at least two appear disturbed while the third seems to be articulated under the disturbed remains. The top layer of bones was removed first while he next layer of bones were only partially exposed. The jumble of bones represents an adult and at least one juvenile. The mass of bones spans F. 644, 634 and 647. The two cranias removed had mandibles-one mandible was articulated with the crania; the other mandible was articulated with the mandible although the mouth was open. The bones were photographed and drawn several times-as successive layers of bone became visible. Several bones at the lower layer were left for excavation in the next season, to be articlated with bones in the next layer of bones. This unit consisted of the burial fill around all the bones. The fill was not separated according to the different feature #15.
