Area: South

Interpretive Categories: Mortar,Plaster deposit

Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: raised area (platform); Material: plaster; Deposition: homogeneous

Discussion: No full plans are being made of this context and 8015 and 8016 as they appear to be the reamins of layers partially removed by the Greek team. Very little is remaining along the western edge of the platform (F1306). Sampled as usual and recorded on unit sheets.

This unit 8014 appears to be either very coarsely made plaster or light coloured mortar - mortar seems a more likely option as context 8016 appears to be mudbrick - or at least of the same consistency and colour.

Possibly these units (8014, 8015, 8016) represent a repair to the edge of the platform (F1306). For this reason they have been given a feature number.

Recognition: Layer at edge of platform - distinguished by different colout and texture from the plaster platform.

Definition: deposit stands above level of platform surface and has a different appearance.

Execution: trowelled in plan

Condition: very dry and a bit windy.

Consistency: loose and quite friable

Colour: light greyish white

Texture: silty loam - with plaster mixed in

Bedding: massive

Inclusions: gritty consistency caused by inconsistencies in matrix.

Post-depositional Features: none

Basal Boundary: clear horizon of smooth plaster surface lies below deposit 8014
