Unit 8069
Category: layer dug in 2003
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Packing material
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: raised area (platform); Material: brick; Deposition: heterogeneous
Discussion: Mudbrick feature which may represent the remains of a platform. Along its eastern edge there is a feature - which may be the remains of a basin or storage bin. This deposit is sitting on top of platform 1307 and abutting it were deposits 8063 and 8060. 8063 was under 8060- so both 8060 and 8063 were abutting 8069. A bone artifact was found within this deposit (X1) - it forms a point which seems to be worn - possibly an awl. During excavation of this deposit an obsidian blade was also found. It did not receive xyz coordinates as it was not certain from where within the deposit it came from.
Whilst excavating this unit various mortarlines appeared. It also became appartent that fragments of burnt mudbrick had been incorporated into it. NOTE: Sample S2 came to 3 bags. 1 of 3 and 2 of 3 may have been marked Total but that is not correct as about 10 litres of this deposit was leftover for dry-sieving.
