Hit the bottom, finally, after removing brown-reddish mottled black deposit. On the west side, it is likely I scraped off more than I should have, so the cut itself is not an original one in that bit. Otherwise, what comes as a thought is about two cuts close to each other-- could that have been the same cut?
The cut sits on "middeny" deposit, no clear base, most likely.
