Discussion: This is the second 5cm thick layer in the midden outside the west wall. It lies directly below unit 8138 and its composition is similar to 8138. At the base in the northwest area is a concentration of building rubble in a layer dipping to the north can be seen in the midden profile to the north of the unit. A fragment of a figurine was found east of the mid point of the unit (X1). It may be a bird head and neck 3cm X 3.2cm. At the south end of the unit, a small wellmade clayball was uncovered (X2) with a diameter of 1.3 cm. A fragment of a large clayball was found in the south-west corner of the unit. The surface of the unit is nearly flat, matching the surface of the soil at the beginning of the season.
