Discussion: The unit consists of the fill of a clearly defined round cut in the sourthern platform. The top layers of the fill consisted primarly of clayish soil with inclusions of plastered floor remnants and baked brick fragments. A midden patch was encountered in the eastern half of the unit 8-9 cm below the surface. The midden was clearly darker than the surrounding soil, with inclusions of shell, charcoal and possible phytolith fragments. Under the midden at 13-15 cm below the surface I encountered a layer of small pieces of white plaster. This layer was consistnet throughout the unit. It was carefully noted then removed as a separate flotation sample (S6). Under the plaster layer the soil was loosely textured dark yellowish brown clay which was similar to non-midden soil above it. The soil in the southern part of the unit then became reddish in color, but less so in the northern part of the unit. The thin white floor which constitutes the basal boundary was encountered under this soil. The unit was cleaned and photographed. I widened the base slighlty to see if the floor continued and it did. The unit was then closed for later inspection when the rest of the southern platform is excavated.
