Area: North

Interpretive Categories: packing

Dimensions: 1.33 m N-S X 1.14 m E-W (less F. 750 51X 60cm)

Discussion: Removal of packing that lies below F. 646. We hope to reach the same white floor that is currently exposed as the basal boundary of 8218. Many finds were included in this mess. Animal bones, seeds, worked stones, shell, plaster, pottery, fired clay, obsidian and flint polisher likely used for smoothing plaster. This was not recorded by the EDM in the exact place where it was found. Rather, it was recorded in the general area that work was taking place.

This packing was very heterogenous and we did not meet our expectations of finding a continuation of the floor to the south. Instead, under F. 646 area we found what may be a series of heavily damaged storage bins and in the area to the N, we found a fairly continous and clear "dirty floor" that Tish recognized by the salty deposits that appeared when the last layer of packing "popped" up.

We also worked on F. 750 and tried to understand its relationship to both the oven, the floor, the wall, and the ashy storage bin that appeared to go under it. Our interpretatios right now are:

oven: F. 750 cut the oven and therefore the oven is earlier
wall: F. 750 cuts the wall
floor: unclear, but relates to how the storage bin relates to the floor
storage bin: F. 750 cut the bin
