Unit 8396
Category: layer dug in 2002
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: wall bricks
Data Category Information: none
Dimensions: 163 cm length of interior wall; 20 cm width
Discussion: This unit comprises rows of bricks in th interior west wall (F. 1000) of building 3. These red mudbricks were place one next to the other along their narrow sides with layers of mortar between the bricks.
L = 31 cm; W = 20 cm; thickness - ca. 6 cm (brick dimensions)
There were 5 rows of bricks visible above the "floor" level reached in this, northern part of former space 158.
While removing first row of bricks in the northern part, a bone tool was found, embedded into mortar (x 1).
In this and U. 8398 two layers of brick and mortar were removed, because they were not so preserved and well defined as the three lower rows, which will be excavated separately.
NB - See Feature sheet for details on bricks.
All of the bricks of wall 1000 were removed in this unit.
