Unit 8412
Category: layer dug in 2002
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: bin fill
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: This unit is the continuation of excavation of the fill of F.770 which began (!) (U.6305) continued in 2001 (8142 and 8291) and will go on as this unit (8412). This top layer ashy deposit included with shell and a great deal with organic material (which was the basal boundary of U.8292 in 2001). Save way very easily ("popped") to a much stronger and compact reddish-orange dry deposit.
This layer also contains many plaster inclusions. That may be redeposit or slump but we will try to follow them to see if we find the remains of former bins. The wall between this feature (770) and 786 to the W is getting thinner and we are monetoring to see if we can remains of an earlier wall between them.
Later some of the plaster gave way to a floor of salts and some patchy plaster that seems to be a continuation by the phase one floor to the S.
Here, we think we have gone under the bin which probably had the reddish silty material as its base.
