Unit 8658

Category: layer    dug in 2003

Area: North

Interpretive Categories: wall

Data Category Information: none

Dimensions: 216 x 210 m

Discussion: With this unit we removed E wall (F. 1016). The wall contains 11 rows of bricks and mortar and we removed them together row by row (see S2 and S3). Bricks were made of sandy clay, very firm, reddish-brown in colour, mortar was loose, grayish-brown in colour. Underneath E wall we found the fill (see unit 8606).
The wall is slanting from N to S and its bricks interlock with the bricks of the S wall. This means that they were built at one and the same time. S wall (F. 761, unit 8653) but in the NE corner wall abuts the S wall.
Inclusions - animal bones, obsidian chips and reddish pigment (see unit 8653, 8654).
