Discussion: Inýtýally thought thýs layer was makeup/beddýng for a post-med floor that has been removed. Reasons beýng: that ýts surface levelled out at the same heýght as the top of the wall foundatýon, whých seems a logýcal level to lay a floor. Also, the layer thýnned out over compact Neo. Infýll towards and at the NW corner. Thýs suggests a delýberate attempt to keep the surface level and the ýnfýll would have provýded a solýd base for a floor ýn ýts own rýght. However, on reflectýon, the layer was not quýte as compact as you would expect for a floor beddýng, and was not partýcularly smooth at the surface, although thýs may have been caused by natural erosýon or over enthusýatýc shovel scrapýng or hoeýng. The layer may have been deposýted at the same level as the top of the wall foundatýon just to make ýt compatýble wýth the surroundýng ground surface. The deposýt was largely made up of redeposýted Neolýthýc ýnfýll, whých ýs why ýt survýved the ýnýtýal topsoýl scrape.
