Discussion: The burial was discovered within the midden in the W portion of sp. 226. No grave cut was evident. The fill layer (8855) was indistinguishable from the surrounding soil. It seems that the individual was buried directly in the midden. The skull was first discovered. The bones are quite fragmentary, probably due to the occurence of the burial close to the surface and to the organic materials in the midden in which it was placed. The vertebrae were missing (except for 1 or 2 cervicals, possibly the sacrum). Animal burrows were evident in the middle area of the thorax and in the area of the missing left leg. In addition, there is a strip of orangish brick at the bottom of the skeleton running NE-SW. The right femur is partially cut by this orange brick.

Body: dorsally extended; vertebrae missing

Left Arm: extended with hand across left pelvis, lying on pelvis

Right Leg: missing lower leg from patella/tibia/fibula/foot

Other comments: body is highly fragmented. Most of the vertebrae are missing, probably due to disturbance of animals. There is an animal burrowin the area of the vertebral column. The body slopes with the head higher than the lower body.
