Unit 10297
Category: Layer dug in 2005
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: midden and external dumps
Data Category Information: Location: external; Deposition: coarsely bedded (dumps)
Dimensions: 5.50m (NS) x 2.50m (EW)
Description: fill of West space
Discussion: Layer is set for the ease of tracking the finds; i.e. it is not desperately different from U:10293 Whiter particles are concentrated at the South end which might be detoriated plaster. Later on the white particles are turned to be salt particles after talking with the specialist (See. Sample 3) Flat faced material is found which might be belonging to the roof ! Four faces of faced material was found in a group where there was no indication (or expectation) of a wall. Thus it is very unlikely that they are wall faces. Since the unit is claimed to be fill, it might be accidental to have those.
Animal burrows are towards the walls, in which they are very useful to exmaine the sections.
The wall marked with question mark in the sketch plan goes deeply into the ground, and if it is a wall the alignment does not match with any other wall clear at the South.
Redeposit large hearth base was found, but heavily damaged. Original Total Deposit Volume entered as 0 altered by system check 30/08/09
