Unit 10308
Category: Cluster dug in 2005
Area: North

Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: bin; Material: archaeobotanical; Deposition: primary deposition
Discussion: This unit consists of a small but very distinct concentration of cruciferae seeds, probably descuviunia (flixweed). This seeds are rich in oil and their collectlon and storage in Catalhoyuk was previously documented by Helbaek.
This unit should be considered together with the nearby unit 10305 (which included some lumps of these fused seeds) and most spectacularly, 'cakes' of fused cruciferae seeds found in unit 10285 (taken as sample number 5 from that unit).
Recognition: identified by black colour and use of hand leus
Definition: discrete concentration within 1034 fill; defined by eye
Execution: trowel and brush
