Unit 10373
Category: Layer dug in 2005
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: animal burrow, fill of post hole
Data Category Information: Location: in abandoned building; Deposition: finely bedded
Discussion: Soft, homogenous fill of a small post hole (?). Filled with redeposited midden, most likely cut through 10369, but possibly mid-way through midden accumulation, possibly associated with the construction of the foundation trench of byzantine building. AFTER EXCAVATION: highly likely that this was just an animal burrow. We were thrown off due to it's cornered location, trunctuated on both sides by byzantine foundation.
LY- probably just fill of animal burrow containing midden, just small sample of the midden and should not be analysed
Recognition: color: black vs pale, saw it in 2 different sections
Definition: troweled to find edges
Execution: trowel
Condition: dry
Consistency: soft, silty
Colour: very dark grey
Texture: fine
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: occasional charcoal, bone
Post-depositional Features: animal burrow
Basal Boundary: room fill underneath - color and consistancy change
