Unit 10471
Category: Cut dug in 2004
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Grave,Pit
Data Category Information: Description: pit
Discussion: Cut of feature 1514. Presumed to be a grave when first seen after the removal of plaster surface (10451) due to oval shape and seemingly cut into make up layer (10463) (same sequence as F1511). Two scrappy plaster fills appeared to be capping whatever lay beneath. However, once the lower of these (10472) was removed there was only the heavily disturbed fill (10473), a deposit that appeared to sit directly above the cut. The base however has been completely reshaped by animal burrows and so if any evidence did remain to suggest what or ahy this feature was cut, then it has been lost. This feature cuts into midden deposits below.
Recognition: Seen as an oval cut after removal of plaster surface (10451).
Definition: Defined by plaster (10472).
Execution: Trowel, leaf and brush
Condition: Dry
Shape: Oval, sub rectangular
Sides: Vertical
Base Break: Sharp
Base: Irregular
Orientation: E-W
