Unit 10697
Category: layer dug in 2004
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: plaster layers of patform
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: raised area (platform); Material: mortar; Deposition: heterogeneous
Discussion: Has many layers (shown on plan), seems that platform was built, then became subject to trampling in a small area, destroying the platform edge - this led to replastering, more buildup, more trample, etc. Then the neighbouring area became used as a rubbish dump - the plaster walls show a certain definite divide here, but where the trampling has occurred the rubbish fill (10609) has spilled into the platform and been trapped below some of the plaster repair leading to a stratigraphy that is somewhat confused. The line of the platform can be made out in the floor now. Similar thing seen on the other side of the trampled area (11204)
