Unit 10803
Category: Cut dug in 2004
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: post retrieval pit
Data Category Information: Description: posthole
Description: post retrieval pit located against east wall of space 112
Discussion: The cut was defined by the profile. However its boundaries were difficult to distinguish. Therefore the excavated cut is largely hypothetical and in any case not absolutely accurate. The cut is located directly west of the east wall of s112. It seems to be a post retrieval pit because it is located next to a plaster lip on the wall that was lipping up against the post. At the bottom this cut disturbs an earlier skeleton - unit 10814 which included a skull. The rest of the skeleton 10814 extended beyond the cut and it was clear that it was older than this unit.
Initially two cuts were defined but later these and their fills were combined into cut 10803/10808 and fill 10802/10807.
