Unit 1101
Category: layer dug in 1995
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: soil in scoop
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: scoop; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: Layer of soil lying in depression in room 70. Post-Neolithic, and possibly recent. Upon excavation appeared to be shallow scoop of material lying upon more mixed and mottled room-fill deposits. Cleaning of general area reveals an arc of burnt hearth or FI of some sort in the SW corner of space 70, suggesting we are not far from the floor of this room. We therefore stop removing 1101 and lay out a 50cm grid over the whole of space 70 - NO - we decide to dig features as features and to grid rest of room. See 1119
