Unit 11317
Category: Cluster dug in 2004
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Tool cache
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial; Material: obsidian; Deposition: primary deposition
Discussion: Cluster of 6 tools associated with male adult skeleton (10499) F1515. Consisted of 3 obsidian/flint tools (11315 x6-8) and 2 animal bone/antler tools (11315 x10-12). Tools were displayed in an understanding position, in a fan formation, overlapping one another. All tools were not nade locally, most likely originating from southern Cappadocciam, and represent a highly unusual deposition.
3 antler tools were also recovered but these have since been catagorised as 2 tools, most likely used for pressure flaking.
Due to upright position were tools deposited within a bag/pouch? No evidence other than upright position remains.
Recognition: Cluster associated with adult buial F1515 [10468] and found within grave fill (11315).
