Unit 11578

Category: Layer    dug in 2005

Area: TP

Interpretive Categories: walll

Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: wall/blocking; Material: brick

Dimensions: 0.74 x 0.40 x 0,23

Discussion: It is a part of a wall in NE corner of an extension. It consisted of two layers of mudbricks , which were partly destroyed. The first layer was 10 cm deep, while the second - 8 cm. In the first layer the preserved bricks lenghts were 10 and 78 cm (those dimensions were observed) and in second layer 28 and 60 cm. The wall was cut in several places so it was impossible to estimate its width but the biggest observed was 33 cm.

The wall was cut by a cut 12204 from NW, by 10950 from S and it was also cut from the W side but no clear cut was visible there (see unit sheet for infill 11791).

The other part of the wall (its N part) was excavated in season 2004 (in order to put up a tent over the trench) as unit 11534.

The wall (11578) is same as wall 10982 but they were separated by a cut of Byzantine grave - cut 10950.
