Unit 11617
Category: layer dug in 2005
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: obsidian pit fill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: posthole; Deposition: heterogeneous
Discussion: Continuation of layer 11611 which appeared to be an extention over much of the platform 1321. A separate number was given because material was enclosed in a deliberate cut (11618) in the platform. The top layer of white (11611) on a surface of the fillgave way to a grey mortar fill with small pieces of bone, and charcoal in it. All finds came from near the top of the hole, in the white plaster matrix, and appear to have been placed on top of the grey mortat, and around the edge of the cut. Being right on the edge of the platform, may once have been a posthole, or a ritual depsit, possibly connected with the burials in the neighbouring platform.
