Discussion: Cut was across 2 parallel walls and the space between. Upper portion of pit contained very small pieces of obsidian, bone, stone, etc. Some plaster, dry sandy fill present near service. Human skull identified and excavation proceeded as burial feature # 2042. Probably Byzantine, therefore dirt to be taken for flotation was dry sieved. Original Total Deposit Volume entered as 0 altered by system check 30/08/09
Recognition: clearly defned cut fill with inclusions in 2 parallel walls, fill easily distinguished from mudbrick, plaster

Texture: clayey loam with dry sandy lumps
Bedding: massive but with dry andy portion and plaster in layer near surface
